Health Net is canceling policies!

February 25, 2008

This story comes from the news, Health Net got in trouble for cancelling policies. They all do it! But Health Net got in trouble. Good! However should be a regulation for that!

Quote from the paper

“February 22 2008 – Los Angeles City attorney Rocky Delgadillo is suing the insurance company Health Net Inc on behalf of Americans, claiming that the company is canceling insurance policies to avoid paying out large amounts of money.

He claimes that the company’s application is aimed at confusing the applicant, due to it asking for them to make judgements on their medical situation that in most cases they are unable too, or are actually unqualified to make.

The suit is contending that since as far back as 2002, the insurance company, based in Woodland Hills, California improperly denied benifits to more than 160 injured Americans and delayed payments needed for critical care for hundreds more.”

Go to jail to get medical attention

February 14, 2008

First email I have received and I do not know if it’s a real story, however I would like to posted here and I have checked and everything sent to me is possible. A family man with children and wife was diagnosed to have cancer, however he lost his job a month after his treatments and the health insurance was cancelled. After a few months trying to get another job to be able to finish his cancer treatment, his wife and him decide to get medical treatment was very important, so he committed a crime to be put in jail, where he received treatment for his cancer, he is now after 7 years out in the street and back with his family.  Sad when you need to go to jail in order to get medical attention.

maybe you do not like her, I don’t like her that much, however her plans for the medical system makes sense and the money won’t go to the “fat cats” on big offices deniying your claims.

Kaiser Permanente gets sued! Good news

February 13, 2008

http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/southern-california-hospital-system-sues-kaiser-permanente-for-managing-bills,277647.shtml

“CHINO, Calif., Feb. 13  /PRNewswire/ — Prime Healthcare Services announced today that eight of its hospitals have filed lawsuits in four different Southern California counties against Kaiser Permanente seeking more than $25 Million for Kaiser’s failure to properly pay thousands of claims for emergency medical services provided to Kaiser’s HMO members.  Under both federal and California law, each of these hospitals were required to provide medical screening examinations to each patient who sought emergency care and such further stabilizing care as was necessary to stabilize the patient’s emergency medical condition regardless of the patient’s insurance status. Kaiser, as well as other HMOs, is required to reimburse the hospitals for the reasonable and customary value of the emergency services provided.  Although Prime Healthcare’s hospitals provided emergency care to thousands of Kaiser’s enrollees, Kaiser failed to properly reimburse Prime Healthcare’s hospitals for the emergency services provided to its members.  Instead, Kaiser has routinely denied claims in their entirety, paid only small portions of the claims, and/or reimbursed the hospitals at rates which are far below the reasonable and customary value of the emergency services.  For example, Kaiser has failed to pay any portion of Sherman Oaks Hospital’s $1.6 Million claim for emergency burn services provided to a critically-injured Kaiser member at the world-renowned Grossman Burn Center who was hospitalized for more than thirty days.

I want to hear and the problems you have with insurance companies. I’ll post them here for you, all your emails posted on this blog will be  anonymous unless you specify otherwise. I know I am just starting, I hope that many people will send me emails at deniedclaims@gmail.com Until I start getting emails from people and the time will take me to edit them to be able to post them, I’ll be posting a few news I found about people having issues with their insurance.
